For Orlando and our LGBTQ brothers and sisters.
Heart ache
Heart break
Soul cast down
Violence, fear, hate
Confusion abound.
When the Cold War ended, we sighed with relief.
Now our kids will be safe, their kids will be free.
But someone’s kids were still hurting —
And someone lashed out.
Towers fell
We tasted hell
Violence, fear, hate
Our world still unwell
No heart’s ease could be found by another broken soul
His pain and his gun and his obscene death toll
ISIS
Crisis
Club kids bleed out
Violence, fear, hate
Inside and out.
I know love is the answer, but tonight I can’t see
Through the tears that keep falling. Where is heart’s ease?
Crucifixion
Last affliction
God on a cross
Violence, fear, hate
Took even Him from us.
But his great affection for us is still strong.
He’ll be our heart’s ease if we can hold on.
White dove
From above…
Violence, fear, hate
Will fall to his love.
